GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – State and Local Law Enforcement are planning to step up enforcement in crash hotspots.
Crash data pinpoints 14 locations in Northeast Wisconsin that statistically are hot spots for crashes. Sgt. Luke Newman of the Wisconsin State Patrol says crashes happen for a variety of reasons.
“A lot of it is due to distractions, so what we want to do is to deploy our resources to those areas and to be more present to get people to do what they need to be doing while they are driving.”
Sgt. Newman says speed is also a big factor in many of the hotspots.
The hotspots were determined by data collected from the last three summers.
“During the summer there are a lot more people out and about, so there is an increased volume of traffic.”
