GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Porlier Pier will soon be gone from the east side of the Fox River, but its replacement is still up in the air.
The Green Bay Parks Committee voted Wednesday night to remove the deteriorating pier, which has been deemed structurally unsound.
The committee did not move forward on any of the three replacement options it was considering, though. It says it wants to hear more from the public before making a recommendation.
Building a new pier the same size as the current one would cost roughly $1.6 million. Other options are less costly but significantly smaller.
Most of the original railroad bridge has already been removed, but the pedestrian pier still remains.
