GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – The woman charged in a Green Bay Austin Straubel International Airport bomb scare has been committed to a psychiatric facility.
48-year-old Rebecca Lockwood faces one felony count of making a bomb scare for the October 27 incident, in which she claimed to have a bomb inside of a backpack at the airport.
A judge will be provided updates on her treatment and if she is deemed competent to stand trial, the criminal case would resume.
Currently, she is incompetent to proceed to trial at this time, but with treatment is likely to become so, according to the court order filed Tuesday.
The order states that the “involuntary administration” of medication was approved because she “is incapable of expressing an understanding of the advantages and disadvantages of accepting medication or treatment and the alternatives.”
On October 27, police were called the airport parking lot for a woman yelling at cars, according to the criminal complaint.
The complaint states that the woman yelled at the officer and denied his request to took in her bag.
“She again screamed at me and told me that I can’t look inside her bag. She then started walking towards the terminal of the airport when she looked at me and said, ‘l have a bomb in my bag,’” states the complaint.
Officers eventually placed her into custody and a search of her bag found clothing “and other miscellaneous items.”
No evidence of an explosive device was found following an examination by a K9 officer and x-ray.
Because of the threat, airport operations were disrupted for about a half-hour.
