TOWN OF CENTER, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A ram is giving law enforcement in Outagamie County a run for their money.
That ram is causing quite the stir in the Town of Center/Mackville area.
Easy to spot, but not easy to catch, Debbie Reed came face to face with the ram while working outside.
“I work from home so I was just working outside and I needed some clothespins and I came around the corner here and there he was,” said Reed.
She said the ram was near her garage, standing in the shade, Tuesday afternoon.
“I backed up because I didn’t know if he was going to come after me or ram me or what he was going to do,” Reed said.
She said it appeared thirsty so she offered it water.
“The hose was laying out there so I went around and turned it on because he looked, just, hot and miserable,” Reed said.
The roaming ram was hanging out at a quarry earlier this week.
The quarry is owned by Murphy Concrete and Construction. Ory Green is a production manager for the quarry and snapped some photos of the ram.
“I thought the guys were playing a joke on me until I saw it with my eyes and he was running around eating weeds and drinking some of the pond water. Yeah, he’s living the dream right now,” said Green. “He’s on permanent vacation.”
A wildlife supervisor from the state Department of Natural Resources says rams aren’t native wildlife of Wisconsin and it could be some sort of domestic stock.
Since it was spotted, the ram also had contact with Outagamie County Sheriff Officials. Deputies briefly contained the ram, but the elusive guy got away running westbound.
Anyone who sees the ram should contact the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Department at (920) 832-5000.
