GRAND CHUTE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Green Bay Packers fans have mixed reactions regarding the team’s quarterback situation following Sunday night’s loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in which Aaron Rodgers left with an injury.
Some want to stick with Rodgers, while others say it’s time for Jordan Love to have a shot.
At Scheels in Grand Chute, people are getting holiday shopping done for the sports fans in their lives.
“As Packer fans, we have been spoiled,” said Kevin Tremblay. “They’ve been good for a long time.”
Tremblay says he’s been a Packers fan for 50 years.
“Time does run out on when you’re going to be good, and so this is time we need to readjust.”
Backup quarterback Jordan Love came into the game after Aaron Rodgers’ rib injury. Love finished six of nine for 113 yards with a touchdown pass.
“I saw that touchdown and I was like, ‘Wow, this is the future,'” said Tremblay.
With a losing record and a hurt Rodgers, fans are looking ahead to the “Love Era.”
“I don’t think they should’ve ever given Aaron Rodgers an extension. I think he should’ve moved on,” said Packers fan Rob Gallert.
According to The New York Times, the Green Bay Packers currently have a 5% chance to make the playoffs. The number dropped from 10% after the loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
Gallert tells FOX 11 the team should continue to play Love.
“Why not give him a shot? See what he does, then they’ll know what they need to do next year.”
After the loss to the Eagles, Rodgers said he planned to play this Sunday against the Bears.
“He’s a great player; we can’t take that away from him,” said Tremblay. “I mean he’s not the future for the Packers, but we want to get as much as we can out of him. Obviously, with a big contract like he has, that ties us up too.”
But many Packers fans are hoping to see number 10 instead.
“Rodgers, we know what he can do and let his thumb heal up for next year if he’s back with us or whatever,” said Tremblay. “But let Love show what he can do.”
Right now, there’s no official word on Aaron Rodgers’ injury and his availability for Sunday’s game with the Chicago Bears.
