WAUSAU, WI (WSAU-WAOW) — A 29-year-old Wausau man caught by police in an online sex crime sting has been sentenced to nine years of probation, according to court record obtained by Newsline 9.
Griffin Waldinger was convicted of child enticement after being arrested twice within three weeks in separate online sex stings in Eau Claire County and Marathon County. Waldinger had been texting with authorities who were posing as a 15-year-old girl with plans to meet up, go back to his apartment, and smoke marijuana.
In June, Waldinger was convicted in Eau Claire County and was sentenced to one year in jail, which could be served in Marathon County. He was also convicted of a felony count of eluding officers before he was arrested and was already given 15 years of probation.
Waldinger does have work-release privileges, but he can’t possess a cell phone, computer, tablet, or other electronic devices with Internet access without a probation agent’s approval.
