It took a big fourth quarter in Lincoln but the Wisconsin Badgers rallied past the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Saturday 15-14 to hit 6-5 on the season and become bowl eligible for the 21st consecutive season, the third longest streak in the country. The Badger offense struggled for most of the day and they found themselves down 14-3 entering the final quarter. With star running back Braelon Allen slowed by injury, his backups rose to the occasion. Chez Mellusi led the team in rushing with 98 yards on the ground and Issac Guerrendo came up with a huge, 34 yard catch to the seven yard line in the closing minute that set up Graham Mertz with a one yard quarterback sneak for the go ahead touchdown with :30 left to play. The Badgers finish up the regular season hosting Minnesota in the battle for Paul Bunyan’s Ax on Saturday in Madison.
The University of Wisconsin Athletic Director Chris McIntosh formally posted the job opening for the full time Head Coaching position over the weekend. Interim Coach Jim Leonard has led Wisconsin to a 4-2 record since taking over for the fired Paul Chryst. Leonard is expected to get serious consideration for the full time job when the season is over.
