GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — During the gun deer season, many local food pantries accept donations of deer. Paul’s Pantry in Green Bay is no different; They’ve had a deer donation program ever since opening in 1984.
“The deer needs to be field dressed.” said Executive Director of Paul’s Pantry, Craig Robbins. “If the temperature is above freezing, we ask that they pack a bag of ice in the front and hind quarters.”
Robbins noted that there is no cost to the hunter. However, deer hunted in Shawano and Oconto counties need to be tested for Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD). To see where you can test deer for CWD, see Paul’s Pantry’s website
The gun deer season runs November 19-27.
