GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – UW-Green Bay will be getting a new chancellor.
Gary Miller is leaving to become the president for the University of Akron.
Miller will leave his UW-Green Bay position on September 30.
He served as UW-Green Bay’s sixth chancellor since 2014.
“It has been a great joy and a deep honor for me to have been Chancellor of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay,” Miller said. “This is an exceptional university with great students, faculty, staff and a very bright future. The team at UW-Green Bay is the best I’ve worked with in my career. They are creative and fully committed to this University. The leadership team has a clear vision for the institution and knows how to get there. I wish everyone the very, very best. Green Bay and Wisconsin will always be close to my heart.”
Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach also credited Miller for his dedication and said he had many accomplishments in his time there.
“Chancellor Miller’s impact on Northeast Wisconsin has been transformative in positioning UW-Green Bay as it develops the next generation of workforce,” says Streckenbach. “He helped champion the STEM Innovation Center and Phoenix Innovation Park, along with amassing support for the Richard J. Resch School of Engineering. I hope that the UW Board of Regents and UW System finds a candidate with the skill set that Chancellor Miller displayed in regards to transforming communities while maintaining the highest standards for academic excellence.”
UWGB has not said what the next steps are to replace Miller.
