WAUKESHA, WI (WSAU) Defense attorneys for Slendeman stabbing suspect Anissa Weier are working to convince a jury that she was delusional and believed in the fictional character when she and a friend stabbed a classmate in 2014.
Jurors watched parts of Weier’s confession video in court yesterday, during which she admitted she convinced co-defendant Morgan Geyser to stab another young girl. Her attorney argues that Weier thought Slenderman was real, and that the stabbing was to pay homage to him.Prosecutors say Weier wasn’t delusional. They claim she would have lost her only friend, Geyer, if she didn’t follow through with plans to attack their classmate. A court-appointed psychiatrist says Weier suffered from undiagnosed schizophrenia and had an obsession with dark, paranormal stories.

Weier’s trial is to determine if she was suffering from a mental defect, as she has pleaded guilty to attempted murder with that as the reason. She’ll either be sentenced to a mental health facility or prison.
