MENASHA, WI (WTAQ) – The Winnebago County District Attorney’s office says Neenah police officer Christopher Gorden’s use of deadly force in a summer shooting was justified.
43-year-old Shawn Blowers was shot outside his apartment on Tayco St. in Menasha on June 25.
Police were there to serve a search warrant for child pornography.
According to police interview contained in a 250 page report by Wisconsin’s Department of Justice, Blowers was initially cooperative as officers searched his apartment.
But police say Blowers eventually walked to his kitchen, grabbed a knife, and walked towards officers.
Blowers can be heard in police body camera video repeatedly saying, ‘kill me’ and ‘do it’ as officers draw their guns.
In the process, police say Gorden shot and killed Blowers.
Gorden was placed on administrative leave per the police department’s policy.
