GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – “Our champion, our Starr.” that’s what the latest Packers-themed fence says across from Lambeau Field in Green Bay.
The fence has six different portraits which highlight Bart Starr’s playing days, coaching days, and some of his philanthropy.
Starr died in May at age 85.
Fence painter Zane Statz tells FOX 11 the subject of the artwork was an easy call.
“This year, specifically, with the loss of Bart Starr we thought it was really important to showcase his life and really, kind of, celebrate his life and everything he did to the Green Bay Packers and the Green Bay organization.”
This weekend is filled with Starr tributes. It started Friday with inside the Lambeau Field Atrium with the 31st annual Green and Gold Gala.
On Saturday Rawhide Boys Ranch, which Star helped found, celebrated the quarterback’s life.
The ranch is a home for troubled youth.
Starr tributes continued Sunday during halftime of the Packers game against the Vikings.
