APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – The victim of a shooting over the weekend in Appleton has been identified.
47-year-old Bobby L. Higgs of Green Bay was found dead Sunday.
Officer Meghan Cash of the Appleton Police Department says a group of people were at a gathering in the basement of a home on Johnson Street when a disturbance took place.
“That ultimately ended with some kind of gunfire occurring at that location. As part of that, Mr. Higgs was shot during that incident.”
Police used surveillance photos of over a dozen people and have identified some as witnesses.
“Right now our investigators are interviewing each of the witnesses that we have been able to identify and locate.”
She says the community has helped with that process and they continue to ask for more assistance.
“That is why we encourage people that we just need to know who these people were and what happened? What could have led to this kind of tragic incident?” At this time, nobody has been charged. On Sunday, at approximately 5:40 AM Officers were sent to a building in the 500 Block of West Johnston St. for a welfare check. Upon arrival, they found a deceased 47-year-old male. An autopsy was conducted Monday morning by the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office and they determined the victim died from multiple gunshot wounds.
Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact Detective Yule at (920)832-5500.
