WASHINGTON, D.C. (WTAQ-WLUK) – Despite rejections by federal judges in Green Bay and Chicago, the Brown County Taxpayers Association is taking its fight against the Biden administration’s student loan forgiveness plan to the U.S. Supreme Court.
The BCTA filed Wednesday for a “writ of injunction pending appeal,” seeking to stop the loan forgiveness program, which started accepting applications on Monday.
“Defendants plan to start spending what could ultimately be a thirteen-figure sum within the coming days unless the federal judiciary steps in and stops them. As such, Plaintiff requests an immediate injunction enjoining these officials from violating the Constitution,” the suit states.
Federal officials have not responded to the latest filing.
The BCTA original suit was rejected by Green Bay-based federal Judge William Griesbach, which ruled the group didn’t have standing to sue.
The Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago also rejected the suit, setting the stage for the appeal to the Supreme Court.
