GREEN BAY (WTAQ) – A state lawmaker’s daughter accused of supplying the drugs behind a fatal overdose is facing new drug charges.
Cassie Nygren is charged with delivering illegal articles to an inmate and manufacturing and delivering amphetamine. Both were filed as repeat offenses and conspiracy to commit. Nygren allegedly directed an accomplice on how to hide drugs in strips placed inside of postcards, which were then sent to the jail. Those mailed pieces tested positive for meth.
23-year old Taylor LaPlant is also being charged in the case. The postcard with drugs was mailed to her, and she allegedly helped to arrange the scheme.
The man who mailed the drugs has not yet been charged.
Nygren was issued a $10,000 cash bond on Tuesday and was also ordered no contact with LaPlant and the other suspect in the case.
She is due back in court for the new charges on October 22nd. A jury trial on the initial charges is set for February.
