MADISON, Wi (WSAU) — Most deer hunters buy their licenses Thursday and Friday before the hunt, and Wisconsin DNR Secretary Cathy O’Donnell Stepp says now there’s a lot of new online options for buying that license, and almost everything else related to deer hunting at www.dnr.wi.gov/topic/hunt/deer.html.
“We’ve got a lot of information on our website,” according to Stepp. “All kinds of things related to the deer hunt. We’ve got some really cool phone applications. We’ve got our pocket ranger app. Deer registration information. What the rules and regs. are, and license and permit information.”
And you can get your license without even leaving home Stepp said. “Other online things, our licensing system now is at gowild.wi.gov, so from your own home, you can actually get the licenses that you need.”
Stepp says even the actual license has gone high-tech. “Everything now on your license information can actually be uploaded to your drivers license, which is pretty slick, or a small little plastic card. It’s called a conservation card, and you can have all your license information on that.”
There’s also information on the new websites about the elimination of the back-tag requirement, changes to carcass tagging rules, new options for registering your deer kill, and even new apps to help ensure hunter safety.
