MADISON, WI (WSAU) An investigation is underway after a skimming device was found on an ATM machine outside a Madison bank.
A woman discovered the device Saturday at the Monona Bank branch on Atwood Avenue. She thought the card slot on the ATM machine looked like it had been tampered with. She tugged at the machinery at the skimmer came off into her hand.
The customer then took the device to the police station.
Police are still investigating. It’s not clear how long the skimmer was attached to the ATM, or how much data it may have gathered.
Skimming devices can steal credit and debit card information.
