GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Red Cross volunteers from the local area are on the road, driving down in an Emergency Response Vehicle to aid those impacted by Hurricane Ian.
Dennis and Lynn Marquardt will be delivering emergency food, water, and supplies to wherever they wind up deployed.
“We don’t know where we’re going yet, but what we will be doing is feeding people who have the need,” Lynn Marquardt said before leaving Thursday morning.
“We will get our supplies when we get our assignment…and then we go down to wherever people are without anything,” explained Dennis.
Red Cross officials say there are currently three ERVs from Wisconsin with six local volunteers that will be deploying to Florida in the next couple days. Steve Hensen with the American Red Cross says more people are needed.
“We need more volunteers, quite frankly, more like the Marquardt’s, that can drop things and just want to help people in a meaningful way,” Hensen said.
Five local volunteers are already there.
