GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Sprinklers to the rescue, saving a Green Bay community center from large amounts of fire damage Tuesday morning.
The Green Bay Metro Fire Department posted on their Facebook page Tuesday afternoon, describing the incident at the Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Community Center in Green Bay.
The department responded to a fire alarm inside the large building around 1 a.m., finding the remains of a fire in a janitor’s room.
The center’s sprinkler system successfully extinguished the fire before crews arrived, preventing further damage.
The department says the fire was caused by a battery-operated disinfecting spray. There were no injuries reported.
