FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Mercury Racing, a division of Mercury Marine, held a ground-breaking ceremony Tuesday for its operations plant.
General manager, Stuart Halley says they’ve run out of room in order to meet global customer demand for the company’s marine propeller systems.
The two-phase construction project will add 40,000 square feet of manufacturing operations space to the southwest corner of the existing facility and expand the current propeller shop by 8,000 square feet on the north side of the building. The project will bring the racing facility to nearly 150,000 square feet.
Construction is expected to be finished by April 2023 with the propeller shop completed by October 2023.
Halley said this project would create jobs within the company but details on those positions wouldn’t be available until closer to expansion completion.
