GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — A series of planned exercises around Bay Beach Amusement park is designed to help local police and emergency services train for the absolute worst case scenario.
The trainings, which start this week, will test local response to active threat scenarios. Green Bay Police Lt. Jeff Engelbrecht says that could be an active shooter or a situation similar to the Waukesha parade incident last year.
“It’s all simulated training, but it’s very realistic. It’s the most realistic training you can provide,” said Engelbrecht. “We have a lot of civilian volunteers working with this.”
The Green Bay Police Department alongside fire, EMA, and other emergency officials from Brown County will participate.
“The cooperation between agencies is the most difficult thing that comes up, so we’re really stressing that,” Engelbrecht added.
The exercise will take part on various undisclosed weekdays through the week of Oct. 24.
