GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – A Green Bay elementary school was placed under a lockdown Tuesday afternoon due to a “community concern.”
The lockdown was lifted within about an hour of going into effect at Nicolet Elementary School.
“In that drug investigation, officers learned that the distribution and possibly the sale of drugs were coming from a residence in the 1300 block of Elm Street,” said Police Captain Kevin Warych.
He says prior information led them to the residence and Nicolet Elementary School was never in any direct danger, but given the circumstance, they wanted to make sure that precaution was taken and contacted administration.
“The last thing we want is for any kid to be hurt by the possible drug dealing at a residence in the neighborhood.”
Two people were taken into custody, but the reason has not yet been released. The situation remains under investigation.
