APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) — Appleton Mayor Tim Hanna has just wrapped up his final budget as mayor of Appleton.
The 2020 spending plan totals $191.3 million. It was unanimously approved by the city council last night and includes $20 million in spending on an underground parking ramp for the US Venture and $300,000 for continued planning for the city’s library project.
Hanna says the Venture project is of particular importance to the city.
“The budget is a reflection of our committment to move that project forward,” Hanna said.
Hanna is set to retire and won’t seek re-election. On WTAQ’s Morning News With Matt & Earl he was asked how much of the taxpayer’s money he’s spent in his 24 years in office.
“I did a quick calculation yesterday…it’s in the $3 billion range,” Hanna laughed.
Hanna was first elected in 1996. He’s the longest serving mayor in the city’s history.
