OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ) — The name of the school resource officer who shot a 16-year-old student after that student stabbed him yesterday morning at Oshkosh West High School has been released.
The Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigation identifies the officer as School Resource Officer Michael Wissink, a 21 year veteran of the Oshkosh Police Department.
Wissink has been a school resource officer since 2017. He’s recovering at an area hospital along with the student involved.
Classes are cancelled today at Oshkosh Area School District Schools.
