WINNEBAGO COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A substitute teacher is facing five charges for allegedly having inappropriate contact with two female students in Menasha.
27-year old Alex Patterson of Greenville is charged with three counts of child enticement and two counts of first-degree sexual assault of a child. He is being held on a $100,000 cash bond.
“We have an individual with no prior record facing substantial exposure and penalties in the form of potential incarceration. Whenever there’s a long period of incarceration, you’re concerned about a flight risk. And then you’re trying to determine at what point is there enough surety that someone will stay and answer to the charges,” says Winnebago County District Attorney Christian Gossett.
The court commissioner also ordered no contact with the victims or anyone under the age of 18 and he’s not allowed on school grounds and cannot use social media.
According to the criminal complaint, Patterson was a substitute teacher at Clovis Grove Elementary School in Menasha when he allegedly touched a 5-year-old girl in a bathroom, using his hand and a massager. Another 5-year-old student claims that on one occasion, Patterson reached inside her pants and touched her.
The complaint contains no statements from Patterson.
