WRIGHTSTOWN, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The 3,300 person Village of Wrightstown is usually a pretty quiet place, but that doesn’t mean it’s completely free of suspicious and odd activity. A resident called police last week after seeing a man running down the street with packages that didn’t appear to be his.
“We are a small community but we have the same type of stuff going on in our community that Green Bay, Appleton but, obviously it’s not as frequent,” says Police Chief Greg Deike.
Wrightstown police tracked down a truck with three men inside, along with a few packages on Friday.
“They claimed that they’re theirs,” Deike says.
Deike says that wasn’t the case. But the names on the packages also didn’t match the homeowners of the addresses where they were delivered.
“We don’t know exactly what’s going on. It’s still under investigation.”
But Deike isn’t releasing what was in the boxes, only saying “None of the product inside of the packages were of concern for safety.”
The men were not arrested. However, if an investigation discovers criminal activity, Deike says charges will be filed. He also has some advice if this happens to you this holiday season.
“If you didn’t order anything or if you don’t recognize the package, feel free to give your local law enforcement a call and we can come and take care of it for you.”
