GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Green Bay Police are searching for a suspect in an animal cruelty investigation.
Around 10:00 a.m. Monday morning, a city public works employee found an abandoned suitcase in a ditch containing a deceased puppy on Emmet Street in the City of Green Bay. Green Bay Animal Protection was notified and took custody of the dog.
The black and white Pitbull terrier is estimated to be 4-6 months old.
A forensic necropsy is being conducted to find out the cause of the puppy’s death.
At this time, Green Bay police are looking for witnesses or any information regarding the puppy and the suitcase.
Meanwhile, police are urging people to surrender unwanted pets humanely by bringing them to local animal shelters or rescues. They also say there are proper ways to dispose of deceased animals other than discarding them
