KANSAS CITY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The family of two Shawano County brothers have filed a wrongful death lawsuit against their accused killer.
That’s according to media reports out of Kansas City.
Garland Nelson’s mother and the farm she owned are also named in the lawsuit.
The filing claims the farm was negligent in letting Nelson work there without proper supervision.
Nelson spent time in federal prison for selling cattle that didn’t belong to him.
Nick and Justin Diemel vanished in July after visiting Nelson’s farm in Missouri. The brothers own a livestock business in Seymour.
They were in business with Nelson and went to his farm to collect 250-thousand dollars from him.
Police say Nelson shot and killed the Diemels, then burned their bodies.
Nelson’s charged with both murders. He’s expected in court again next month.
