DOOR COUNTY (WTAQ-WLUK) – A woman is dead after a hit-and-run in Door County Saturday evening.
On Saturday, August 27, 2022 at approximately 5:31pm the Door County Sheriff’s Office was notified of vehicle-pedestrian crash on CTH BB in the town of Sevastopol.
Responding units found that a 71-year-old Sturgeon Bay woman had been struck by 2013 Ford Escape SUV. After hitting the woman, the vehicle traveled westbound on CTH BB, crossed the eastbound lane, and entered the ditch. The vehicle hit a section of fencing. The 43-year-old driver fled the scene on foot, but officers were able to take the driver into custody.
The victim was transported to the Door County Medical Center where she was pronounced deceased. Her name is not being released at this time.
The investigation is on going.
