ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Packers fans at Anduzzi’s on Holmgren Way on Monday night were happy to hear the team is making some big personnel changes.
“I think it’s probably for the better.”
Joe Demp of Ashwaubenon tells FOX 11…
“Dom Capers definitely had to go.”
Terry Holterman of Green Bay agrees….“Too many holes in the defense. You could just march right down the field and never stop anybody.”
While most Packers fans are happy to see changes on the defense, the move of Ted Thompson from general manager is a little more bittersweet for some.
“Ted Thompson, I was surprised to hear that actually,’ said Terry Eckers of Green Bay.
“I thought it might happen, but I didn’t think it would happen this quickly.”
“I don’t think Ted Thompson is bad at his position, but I definitely think the Packers could use somebody different and some new blood,” said Demp.
New blood might not be the case. Some fans are listening to the early reports that Thompson’s replacement could come from within the team.
“I don’t know who they’d want to replace him with,” said Eckers. “Everyone is talking Elliot Wolf, but I don’t know. There might be other guys out there too.”
Holterman says a new GM could mean other changes too….
“If they get a new GM in there and he’s talking Elliot Wolf, that would be great, but then a question you always have with a new GM is they like to hire their own people, so where does that leave McCarthy? Does he want to have his own head coach?”
Fans say they aren’t sure what else could happen. They just hope whatever changes are made lead to a more successful season in 2018.
