APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) — Outagamie County has approved an investment of $14.9 million in American Rescue Plan funding into a number of community services.
Outagamie County Executive Tom Nelson says the money is going to be put to good use.
“It’s affordable housing, child care and early childhood development, mental health, broadband expansion, workforce development,” Nelson told WTAQ. “We wanted to have a broad scope of investments, not just one category.”
The investment is a result of months of planning that involved a number of non-profits and focus groups. The money will be mostly distributed through grants.
The county received a total of $36 million in funds from the American Rescue Plan Act. All of it will have to be spent by the end of 2026.
