GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK)- An internal investigation has been ordered by the Green Bay Police Department.
Police Chief Andew Smith said they will be looking into how members of the Green Bay Police Department dealt with a man who was videotaping inside the police department lobby Monday morning.
A 12 minute and 15 second video of the incident is on YouTube. It was posted under the name FoxValley CommunityWatch.
The video shows the man interacting with Lt. Jeff Engelbrecht and Captain Brad Florence.
The man was asked multiple times to identify himself, which he refused to do, telling officers that he was “taking some pictures.”
The video cuts to outside of the department with videotaping including a look into windows.
A different group of personell questioned the man outside. The video shows Lt. Jeff Brester grabbing the man’s arm, telling him that he is now being detained.
In a post to the department’s Facebook page, Smith writes he was concerned that the video was posted online and that it resulted in phone calls and emails from members of the public.
“I have watched this video in its entirety many times, and have ordered a formal internal investigation into the conduct of the involved department personnel,” Smith wrote in the Facebook post.
Green Bay Police confirm that the man that was taking the video was not arrested and was released after officers asked him questions.
