GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – What started as an armed subject on the run in Green Bay Monday, resulted in an arrest on Tuesday.
17-year-old Dylan Wilber was arrested Tuesday afternoon at a residence on the 1200 block of 9th Street. Police Captain Kevin Warych said officers were sucessful in calling Wilber out of the residence and took him into custody.
Officers put out a request for Dylan Wilber to turn himself in Tuesday morning, and they soon received a tip on his possible whereabouts.
“They got information through the use of technology and witness statements, that Mr. Wilber was possibly at a residence on the 1200 block of 9th Street” said Warych. “Officers surrounded the residence to make sure that Mr. Wilber would not leave the area like he did Monday.”
Officers performed a search for Wilber late Monday afternoon, but said the search came up empty after the canine lost the scent.
During the time of the search, area schools were put on a secure hold. On Tuesday, officers requested a secure hold for two schools on Tuesday. The hold was lifted after the arrest was made.” “We wanted to make sure that no children would be in the neighboorhood while this was going on” Warych said.
Throughout the investigation, Warych said they started to learn about the events that took place Monday.
“We learned that there was an armed burglary on the 800 block Dousman Street, and that the victim of the armed burglar and was taken out of her house against her will.”
According to Police, a woman stopped her car quickly in front of an officer Monday afternoon. As she got out of the car, she started telling officers some information that they needed to investigate.
“It was at the time that the woman was talking to the officer that a man with a weapon exited the vehicle and took off running” Warych said.
Green Bay Police say they are recommending charges of Armed Burglary for the entering the residence, and Armed Robbery for the actions of removing the woman from the home into the car.
