FOX CROSSING, WI (WTAQ) – Police say they know the name of the man whose body was found in a ditch Tuesday afternoon.
54-year-old John Schaus of Fox Crossing was found face-down in a ditch near the intersection of Shady Lane and American Drive around 1:30 p.m.
An autopsy was scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday in Madison but authorities are still awaiting the results.
“The gentleman did have some injuries that we were able to see Tuesday at the scene but I’m hoping that something more concrete or definitive comes out here after they have a chance to complete the autopsy,” says Fox Crossing Officer Jason Weber.
He was described as a middle-aged white man. Police say he was dressed appropriately for the weather.
The Wisconsin State Patrol was called in to do crash reconstruction in case the man was involved in a crash, but police have not said whether any evidence supports that theory.
