MENASHA (WTAQ) – A man in Menasha proved he was desperate for beer.
Menasha Police are looking for a man that they say crashed his car into a convenience store and then stole some beer.
Police say the surveillance footage is eye opening.
Officers were called to JS Foods on Plank Road around 1:15 Sunday morning.
The video shows a car crashing into the front door and shows a white male with dark pants and a light colored hooded sweatshirt enter the store through the damaged front door and walking around with beer.
Community Liaison Officer John Wallschlaeger says it was a costly way to get beer.
“It is pretty extreme to crash your car into a building like that for a couple of 12-packs of beer.”
According to the police report, the suspect took 12-packs of Bud Light, but also caused thousands of dollars in damages to the building.
“That is going to far greater of an expense than replacing the beer that was stolen” Wallschlaeger said.
During their investigation, Wallschlaeger said they also learned that the subject was trying to get free food from a different convenience store.
“He was trying to steal some sandwhiches from the other store. He had a mission and that was his focus.”
Wallschlaeger said they really want to help the business owner get back what they lost.
“We would like to see them get restitution, you bet.”
Police said they are hoping someone can identify the subject or the car.
“We would like to think that this is somebody local, but it is possible that it is someone from outside the area.”
