OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A flag with a peace sign on it now hangs at the home that donned a Nazi flag earlier in the week.
This after social media backlash, and alleged threats against a neighbor.
“I wanna know who did it so I can give them a hug,” says Rosangela Diaz.
A much different symbol than what was flown there before – a Nazi flag.
Diaz spoke to WLUK.
“I definitely have to give kudos to whoever put the flag up there, the new one at least. Because it’s definitely representing the opposite of what the original flag did, and that’s always a plus.”
Diaz lives on the other side of the duplex where the Nazi flag was flown.
Since images of the flag spread on social media, she says she received several threats, despite not being responsible for putting the flag up.
“I don’t know the true reason behind it, but it’s had quite an effect on us. By the good grace of God, everything is calming down. We haven’t had anyone bothering us for the last day and a half or so”
Because of all the threats earlier in the week, Diaz and her family plan to leave the duplex.
“We’re in the process of moving, I no longer feel safe here”
So far, no one has been able to get in touch with the resident who hung the Nazi flag, or whoever hung the peace flag in its place.
