Tony Ronald Cline
ASHWAUBENON, WI (WSAU) — Police in Ashwaubenon are warning about a contractor who took more than $2,000 for a job and then vanished without completing any work.
Tony Ronald Cline was arrested after he took out a classified ad in the Green Bay Press Gazette for handyman services under the name “A-Z Handyman Services.” A Green Bay-area couple then paid him $2,200 upfront for a bathroom remodel, only to have him disappear.
Police say Cline has been accused of similar schemes in at least five other states.
He has been arrested for charges of theft by false representation and was released on a $500 cash bond. Police say he has been staying at a hotel in Marinette.
The Department of Justice is asking anyone else in the region who may have had similar interactions with Cline to contact Investigator Aaron Dufek with the Ashwaubenon Police Department.
Cline, a Fargo, ND resident, was using a North Dakota cell phone number to connect with prospective clients.
