MANITOWOC COUNTY, WI (WTAQ) – It was 17 years ago Sunday when a hit and run driver killed a teenager near Manitowoc, and the victim’s mother still hopes the driver can be identified.
Authorities say 17-year-old Ricky Hochstetler was walking home from a friend’s house when an oncoming vehicle dragged him for almost 200 feet and kept going.
It happened January 10th of 1999 in the Manitowoc County town of Newton.
Hochstetler’s mother Debi tells the Manitowoc Herald Times Reporter the hardest part of dealing with the tragedy is not knowing who caused it.
Officials say the driver could have been drunk or had fallen asleep at the wheel.
