GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Extremely dangerous cold outside to start your Monday.
“We’ve got windchills between minus 20 to minus 30 degree this morning” Rich Mamorosch, with the National Weather Service office in Ashwaubenon….says the cold isn’t something to take litely.
Unprotected skin can fall victim to frostbite in 30 minutes or less in these conditions. Wear a hat, gloves, scarf across your face and stay outside as little as possible.
An autopsy is scheduled for today, to determine if a 21-year-old Oshkosh woman died from the cold. Authorities say a business security camera caught the woman collapsing in front of a Milwaukee home early yesterday morning — when it was one-below with a wind chill of minus-20. The medical examiner’s office says the unidentified woman had left a house party, and was not dressed for the weather.
Mamorosch says conditions will ease a little as the day moves along and a bit of a warm-up is coming later in the week. “this will be the last morning of the really cold windchills for the foreseeable future”
Roads, parking lots and sidewalks are slick too as salt is in-effective in melting ice in the extreme cold.
