OCONTO, WI (WTAQ) – An Oconto woman has pled not guilty to charges in connection with dragging a dog behind her car for several miles, killing the animal.
On Thursday, Jordan McDonald waived her preliminary hearing and enter that plea to charges of mistreatment of animals causing death and disorderly conduct.
According to online court records, McDonald returns to court on February 11 for a pre-trial conference. A trial date has not been scheduled.
McDonald apparently got into an argument on January 10, and when she left a home, the dog was tied to the vehicle. The person McDonald was arguing with called police, who pulled over McDonald. The dog was lying in the road, still attached by a leash to the vehicle, according to the criminal complaint.
The complaint states that McDonald denied knowing the dog was tied to the vehicle and accused the person who called police of tying the dog to the car.
McDonald faces 3-and-a-half years in prison if convicted.
