Madison, WI (WTAQ) – The Wisconsin Department of Justice says a witness lacked credibility, so it’s not going to charge the trouble-plagued former Calumet County district attorney.
However, the Office of Lawyer Regulation found merit in the sexual allegation against Ken Kratz and cited him for two ethics violations in an 11-count complaint.
Kratz resigned in October 2010 after it came to light he had sent 30 sexually-charged text messages to a crime victim.
In this case, the woman who accused Kratz of sexual misconduct has been treated for mental illness and had three previous convictions for making false representations.
Kratz has become more visible in the media of late since the release of the Netflix series “Making a Murderer”. He was the prosecutor in the case that sent Steven Avery and Brendan Dassey to prison for the 2005 murder of Teresa Hallbach.
