SHEBOYGAN FALLS, WI (WTAQ) – Saying they’re humbled by the community’s support and generosity, a Sheboygan Falls couple who lost three of their children in a house fire last month will no longer accept donations.
In a statement from Chris and Kristi Maki, they say their physical needs after the fire have been met:
“We want to thank our community, church and families so much for the amazing outpouring of support. You have all been a great comfort to us during this very difficult time. We know that God will sustain us through the unimaginable and all of you have been the hands of Jesus, truly showing love.”
The Maki’s say if anyone feels compelled to give in the memory of their children, they encourage them to give to the following ministries that are near to the family’s heart:
– Crossroads NEXTGEN Ministries – Children and Youth Ministries of the Maki’s home church.
You can make checks payable to ‘Crossroads Community Church’ and put ‘NextGen Ministries’ in the memo.
You can mail the checks to:

– Campus Life – Youth and Family Ministry in Sheboygan
– Living Hope International – an orphanage in Mexico
On January 26, the Maki family lost three of their four children in a fire while the parents attended a bible study. 11-year-old Natalie Martin, 10-year-old Ben Martin and 7-year-old Carter Maki died as a result of the fire.
Their 9-year-old daughter, Jenna Martin, escaped the burning home and was not injured.
A GoFundMe account was set up by a family member and helped raise more than $140,000, in addition to other fundraisers in the community.
