GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – It’s a bird, it’s a plane…or how about more than 10,000 planes at the 64th annual EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh this summer.
The event is set for July 25-31 at Wittman Regional Airport.
EAA Spokesman Dick Knapinski says they are prepared for the multitude of planes and people.
“We can park about 5,000 at Wittman Regional Airport at any given time. But airplanes come into Green Bay, Appleton, Manitowoc, Shiocton out to Wautoma, Waupaca…they are all coming to Oshkosh for the event. They come from around the world and throughout the country to be here.”
This year the aviation celebration will commemorate the 75th Anniversary of Pearl Harbor, bringing many of the World War II aircraft to Oshkosh.
“We have an airplane called the Interstate Cadet, a small training aircraft that was actually in the air for a private flight lesson on the morning of December 7th 1941 over Oahu. It was flying out there just doing flight training when the Japanese naval forces came in. That airplane will be in Oshkosh,” says Knapinski.
EAA AirVenture is an event for not only the biggest airplane enthusiasts but for the whole family. There will be a KidVenture area where the little one’s can enjoy hands-on activities, pedal planes, to building model rockets, airplanes and more.
