GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – A plea deal has been reached for the second suspect in the 2012 murder of Thomas Wick.
On Friday, 27-year-old Katie Heller pled no contest to a reduced charge of being party to second-degree reckless homicide in the Wick homicide case.
Prosecutors say Heller and her fiancé, Matthew Moore, owed Wick money after he sold them a house. On February 27, 2012, Wick was found dead in the basement of his Howard home after being shot 4 times.
Earlier this week, Moore struck his own plea deal and was convicted.
While Moore claimed Heller was the shooter, her lawyer disputed that claim. In court Friday, prosecutors said evidence indicated Moore was likely the shooter.
Prosecutors agreed to recommend a sentence of no more than 25 years in prison and 10 years extended supervision for Heller as part of the agreement. However, the judge could sentence her to more time behind bars.
Heller also pleaded no contest to charges of resisting or obstructing an officer and perjury. Prosecutors say she and Moore lied about the involvement in the Wick homicide during a John Doe investigation.
Heller is scheduled to be sentenced May 3.
