OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ) – Oshkosh police confirm the body pulled from the Fox River early Saturday morning is that of a woman reported missing on Friday.
Ted Sattergren was fishing on Saturday when the Winnebago County Dive Team pulled the body of Brenda Plantz from the water.
“There wasn’t many people out there and then there were sirens and a group of officers over there looking in the water and you’re wondering what’s going on” Ted Sattergren told FOX 11. “You don’t know how you should feel.”
The Winnebago County Dive Team began its search of the Fox River near Lake Butte des Morts.
“The received information that there was a body down near the railroad bridge, which is on the eastern part of the river closer to Lake Winnebago,” said Oshkosh Police Lt. Kevin Konrad. “So, they moved their resources down there, and at that time they found a body.”
According to police, Plantz was last seen leaving a church in the 1300 block of High Avenue in Oshkosh and was upset at the time.
“We do not have information to indicate that there was any foul play to associate with her going missing,” said Konrad, adding it’s unclear how Plantz died. “We need to close up loose ends, to look at how she ended up in the river to begin with.”
