MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ)- A Manitowoc man is being charged with obstructing an officer after he allegedly made up a story of an armed robbery.
Police say Austin Fendrick reported that he was robbed at gunpoint at a hotel parking lot Sunday afternoon.
The investigation led to an arrest of Gavin Schlaeger.
During the investigation, police learned that Fendrick fabricated the story and eventually admitted to it.
Police say Fendrick made up the story because his vehicle ran out of gas and did not think his mother would help him.
Fendrick will be charged with two counts of obstructing an officer and charges against Schlaeger have been dropped.
