APPLETON, WI (WTAQ)- Circumstances of recent burglaries on the North side of Appleton are frustrating police officers.
At least three burglaries were reported to Appleton police on Monday and Sergeant Dave Lund says in all cases, the suspect had the easy entry with unlocked doors.
“It is not that someone is messing around by the door,” Lund says.
He says even after repeated warnings, people still leave doors unlocked, and are prime targets for theft.
“I don’t if is that people don’t believe us or that they watch too much TV, but the images of people kicking in windows or doors just does not happen.”
Lund says protecting yourself is the best way to protect your property, and locking doors will improve your chances of not being targeted.
“Secure their property, use a deadbolt and lock their garages.”He says in the case of the home burglaries, residents were home at the time, adding to the danger.
Vehicles were also reported missing in Appleton.
