GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Green Bay Police have seized yet another facsimile firearm.
At 10:56 p.m. Thursday night, officers encountered a man in a vehicle at the River Ramp parking ramp on North Washington/Pine St.
The officers took custody of a male subject for suspected drug possession.
An eventual search incident to arrest resulted in officers locating what was first thought to be a GLOCK 17 handgun. The gun had the look, weight, and feel of a GLOCK handgun. However, upon further inspection, it was determined that the handgun was a BB gun.
Police are calling the situation yet another unfortunate example of a facsimile firearm being associated with illegal behavior and poor decision making, much like the incident from July 4th.
A statement from police says:
The incident highlights the need for people to think about their actions and to avoid becoming involved in dangerous situations. The officers involved in this investigation should be commended for their professionalism and decisive response to yet another very dangerous situation.
