SUAMICO, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Earth day is today, and the NEW Zoo couldn’t help but celebrate a little early.A celebration of earth and animals was held at the zoo Saturday.
Visitors of all ages were invited to join in on Earth Day activity stations.
This year the zoo focused on the affects of one-time-use plastics.
Operations manager Patricia Jelen tells FOX 11 the zoo is taking extra measures to keep the earth clean.
“We’re actually becoming a drop off point for plastic film which a lot of recycling places don’t take so it’s just to reuse and to recycle as much as you can,” she said.
Some conservation efforts include going green in parts of the zoo.
