GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Former Green Bay Alderman Guy Zima, had some strong words as the city’s ethics board recommended dismissing the complaint against him.
The board didn’t believe it could take any action since Zima no longer holds office.
At the meeting Monday night, Zima says he was smeared by the accusations against him.
Zima lost both his council seat and his spot on the Brown County board in April.
Alderwoman Barbara Dorff filed the complaint.
Dorff says she was also frustrated that the hearing didn’t happen right away, but tells FOX 11 she’s happy with the outcome.
“We have a strict code of conduct. It’s important we’re welcome to the public; that we don’t engage in debate with the public, that we don’t treat employees or members of the public with contempt and I think those are some of the things that were shown in the video I put together.”
But Zima calls the whole a calculated effort to make him look bad.
“I think this has a chilling effect. They can make accusations before the election. smear the living daylights out of you, then you don’t even get a chance to get your hearing to prove your side of it.”
Zima also said he was still looking at the possibility of running for office once again, including a potential mayoral bid.
